About Paul

Smiling middle-aged man in a blue shirt against a plain background.

Paul's career in training and instructional design spans over 40 years. During that time, he's worked across corporate, academic, and technology environments, with a consistent focus on how people actually use learning in their day-to-day work. He spent over a decade at Apple designing mobile content for the sales organization, where clarity, precision, and usability were essential.

Alongside his consulting work, Paul teaches at the University of Cambridge and the University of the Arts London, where he delivers courses on generative AI and learning design. This keeps his work grounded in current practice and gives him a clear view of how professionals are applying these tools in their own contexts.

He's the author of Mastering Mobile Learning Design, a practical guide that concentrates on the design decisions that directly influence the quality of mobile learning. The book reflects the same approach Paul brings to his work: attention to detail, respect for the learner, and a clear emphasis on design rather than theory.

Over the course of his work, he has focused on improving the quality of learning content, adapting programs for mobile, and helping teams build confidence in using generative AI as part of their design process.

Paul's approach is straightforward. He pays close attention to how content is written, structured, and experienced on a mobile device, and how well it supports real tasks. This perspective has shaped both his teaching and his consulting work. His goal remains consistent: to design mobile learning that's clear, useful, and effective.
